Loki had 3 children with giantess Angrboda, and all three of them were considered to be monsters by the Asir gods. On top of this, the all-father Odin had a prophecy that the three of them would eventually bring about Ragnarok. So, he decided to twist the fate by manipulating their lives.

With no clue that he was actually helping Ragnarok arrive earlier. He put the children of Loki in just the right places to ensure that Ragnarok would eventually happen.

To Hel, he gave sovereignty over the realm known as Helheim, the land of the dead. She gets killed by Fire Giant Sutr’s world fire that brings down all the nine realms.

For Fenrir, he crafted an unbreakable chain and bound them. He eventually kills Odin, but he gets killed by Odin’s son Vidarr.

For Jormungandr, Odin made Thor cast him into the ocean that surrounds Midgard. Where he would remain until Ragnarok, and then rise up from the depths, and spill the water to the earth. Eventually flooding it. He gets killed by Thor, but he kills Thor with his venom as well.
