Andreya Wharry (Southern Champion) (Stain glass window designer from Newquay, Cornwall) versus Sarah Damm (Northern Champion) (Sport science lecturer from East Birmingham, West Midlands)

Mark Mottram (Southern Champion) (Plumber and stuntman from Chingford, East London) versus Buster Reeves (Northern Champion) (Service layer and kickboxer from Huddersfield, West Yorkshire)

Notes: This is the final of Gladiators: The Challenge series where Northern champions face Southern champions for the overall national championships of Gladiators 1996.

Out of all the events, Skytrak appears in the final of Gladiators 1996 for its fifth appearance due to an increase in usage where it has been played in two each show of each compass point series: North and South.

Pendulum appears in the final of Gladiators 1996 for its appearances due to an increase in usage up to 8 shows.

It does not feature the brand new event, Sumo Ball in the final of Gladiators 1996.

Duel appears in the final of Gladiators 1996 for its sixth appearance as a core event and a combat event but was meant to be seventh because it was supposed to be played in two Southern heats. It was replaced by Gauntlet in each final of the compass point series: North and South.

It features two team coaches in the final of Gladiators 1996: Eunice Huthart (North) and Phil Norman (South), who both served as team coaches in each compass point series.

There are no 'Time Out' segments of the Gladiators’ winter training camp at Coco Beach, in Mauritius to be shown in the Final of Gladiators 1996.

Prizes: Regardless of the outcome, the finalist contenders will share a grand prize of £4,000 in prize money by receiving one of two prizes; Champions will each receive a four wheeled drive UK Ford car. Runners-up will each receive a dream holiday in South Africa’s Sun City.

On the Eliminator, the contender with the fastest Eliminator time will receive an extra £1,000 bonus by breaking or holding the existing records.

Absent: Nightshade, Warrior, and Zodiac.
