This could have been so great to highlight love, sex and romance after 65, but off-colour, overly quippy jokes and dialogue let this movie down. At least the scenery is spectacular.

The Brits do it so well, so why can't Hollywood make movies that aren't patronising and tokenistic to over 65s?

The sequel the 2018 Book Club sees the icons-only cast, featuring Oscar winners Jane Fonda, Diane Keaton and Mary Steenburgen, as well as multi-Emmy winner Candice Bergen of Murphy Brown fame, reunite for a bachelorette trip to Italy.

Also starring Don Johnson and Andy Garcia, the film is overflowing with talent. But they can only do so much with the script they've been given. (complete with an off-colour sex joke about Mother Theresa)
