Tarian Overture is a finalist in Category 1 of the WASBE (World Organization for Symphonic Bands & Ensembles) Composition Contest V for 2024.

Programme Note:
“Tarian” is known as “Dance” in Malay. “Tarian Overture” is inspired by the dance “branyo,” also known as “joget,” which is popular throughout the Portuguese settlement in Malacca. You will hear the motif from the “Dondang Sayang” at the beginning and the end of the piece.
