PART 2 - How To Setup A Easy To Clean Duck Brooder For Day Old Baby Ducklings

In PART 2 of the mini duckling series I clean out the duck brooder and give more tips for taking care of your baby ducks.

I thought it important to make a video showing how dirty the duckling brooder gets after a few days. Keep in mind if you have 1 duck the brooder would take 12x as long to get this dirty. It doesn't take long to clean out however, maybe 10 mins with a garden hose and another 5 mins drying the brooder with a towel. Although it may seem like the duck brooder can be wet the baby ducks need a nice dry spot to warm up and dry off. Try to prevent mold from growing under the wood chips and clean out brooder when you can start to smell it. Ducklings have a weak respiratory system when they are young and can easy get a respiratory infection if mold or urine fumes are in the air. Be sure to stay on top of brooder cleanings, the ducks will grow faster than you will believe so the brooder cleanings don't last forever. The ducks grow in size fast but will take a while to get their feathers compared to chickens. In the next video hopefully I will be able to introduce the baby ducklings to their duck pond in the back yard.
