I bought this drone for a newly formed Drone Club at the middle school I work at. We had purchased several other drones to get the kids started and to learn some basic principles of flight. After graduating up past two other drone models, we started on this one. After receiving it, I put everything together and flew it in my back yard just to test things out. Satisfied, I brought it to school and presented it to the drone club. I was embarrassed when I could not get it to complete the GPS calibration. After many tries, we gave up, made a video of how we were trying to get it to calibrate. I had contacted Holy Stone support and after they watched the video, they sent me a replacement. Because it appeared the first one was defective, they told me to keep it for parts. When the new one arrived, I again tested it in my back yard and all seemed good. No GPS connection issues and it flew as expected. On the next Drone Club day, I had one of the kids go through the set up process and GPS calibration. No problems were encountered and it flew fine. One the next attempt to fly, I set it up, moved to a new location and tried the GPS calibration. If failed. Nothing I did would make it calibrate successfully. One of the kids tried it again and to my surprise, it calibrated without any problems. To make a long story shorter, I discovered that the malfunctioning GPS calibration was my fault. When I tested each drone at my house, I was wearing causal clothes. When I was trying to fly it at the school, I was wearing a uniform. Part of that uniform was a body cam attached to the chest area. The body cam is held in place with a strong magnet under the uniform shirt. The magnet was causing the drone calibration to malfunction. It was completely my fault, not the drone or equipment. To add to my ongoing embarrassment, I tried calibrating the first drone without the body cam and it worked flawlessly. So to be fair, I contacted Holy Stone and told them what happened and I offered to send the replacement drone back. Surprisingly, they told me to keep both! That my friends is great customer service! It wasn't even their problem but they took care of the client, me!
