Remember the TV show The Office? The sitcom was a smash hit in the UK, then Greg Daniels adapted it for American audiences, and it changed television forever. It launched the careers of a bunch of actors and writers, and inspired thousands more. Now, it’s also a precursor to The Paper - A brand new show you can catch on NBC and Peacock. Instead of a paper company, The Paper follows a newspaper: The Toledo Truth-Teller.

This week, Bullseye is joined by Alex Edelman, who plays Adam Cooper on the show. Adam is an accountant and reporter at the paper.

Alex Edelman is also an award winning standup and writer. His solo show, Just For Us, is about the time Edelman crashed a white nationalist meeting in Queens, New York. It also offers a personal examination of white supremacy and Jewish identity, with very funny jokes woven throughout. The HBO Max produced televised special of the show won an Emmy award last year.

Edelman talks to Bullseye about his unlikely position as perhaps the least impressive member of his family, the difference in audience reactions to his standup in the US and the UK, and how he hopes The Paper will make audiences feel good.
