Honda sun visor repair (and other clamshell visors)

This repair method will work on various clamshell style visors typically associated with heavy sun visors. When options are added to visors including mirrors, side illuminators, etc., it all comes at a price and that price is weight. A thin lightweight visor is held in position with simple friction. Heavy visors need a strong tension mechanism to hold them in their placed positions. When plastic gets to well over 150 degrees (F) in the summer months, things begin to happen.
You can also use machine screws, small bolts, flat washers, and nuts in place of smoother, flush, cleaner looking binding posts (screw posts), it's your car, and you're the one looking at it.
NOTE: the vise grips demonstrate the force required to properly operate the visor.
