In this video, I show you how to recreate and adapt Gareth Southgate's 4-2-3-1 England tactic in eFootball PES 2021.

In their route to the final, England adopted a very pragmatic approach. They would often switch between a counter-press after losing the ball to a mid-to-low block; crowding out their own defensive third and making it extremely tough for the opposition to play through them. Having two defensive midfielders in front of the back four made this a more viable option.

When in possession, Southgate's team would build up from the back - generally playing through the thirds and working the ball up the pitch. In order to retain that defensive solidity, Kyle Walker would often invert to form a back three, whilst the left back would bomb forward.
