E46 M3 - Fuel Pump Removal and Replacement

In this video I replace my fuel pump and run through some pointers.

Fuel pressure on S54 engine can be measured at the Schrader valve under the driver side floor board (by the fuel filter/pressure regulator). S54 spec is 5bar +/- 0.2 (72.5psi +/- 2.9).

Sputtering, stalling, pump not priming when key is in position 2, loss of power, misfiring, intermittent starts, hesitation on throttle, hard starts and long cranks, are all symptoms of a bad or failing fuel pump.

Basic tools for this job are 10mm socket, screwdriver/hammer.

I would recommend Genuine BMW (OE) fuel pump, not cheaper alternatives like VDO or Delphi. Fuel pump part number is 16142229684. It comes with the rubber seal and the entire housing assembly with float, wiring, etc.
