Trump’s tariffs, ranging from 10% to 49%, are part of his broader strategy to shift manufacturing back to the U.S. The announcement has provoked dismay and threats of countermeasures, but global responses have generally been measured, reflecting a reluctance among key trading partners to engage in an all-out trade war with the world’s largest economy. Analysts warn that the consequences of such a war would be detrimental for both the U.S. and its global counterparts.
