Описание к видео Signals From Over the North Pole?

I remember when I was studying for Tech & General Class ham radio licenses learning some of the basics: that HF radio signals bounce off the ionosphere.
And I just assumed that the signal always went around the world in a straight line like drawing the Equator around the world, east to west or west to east.
But as I got more experience under my belt, I learned that there's a "short path" and a "long path" that our signals take around the globe.

In our hobby, the "short path" refers to the shortest circular path between two locations; for instance over the poles to get from one side of the world to the other quickly.
While "long path" is the path that goes the opposite direction, (away from your location) more than halfway around the Earth.
Amateur radio ops use long path to make long-distance (DX) contacts when the short path is not working, often the gray line (at sunrise or sunset)is passing over you. You may hear signals from both paths simultaneously, which can result in an echo sound due to the slight time difference in how far the signal you receive has traveled to get to you.

I am thinking I was hearing RW1F from Moscow, Russia over the short path. I was vacationing near Abiquiu Lake north of Santa Fe, New Mexico and happen to hear this him contacts with many stations in the United States.
