Winner Take All is a show designed to give the audience an insider point-of-view on what’s really happening as disruptive startups, traditional enterprises, and nations around the world rise up to challenge the oligarchy that is big tech.

I'm Alex Moazed and my mission is to enable access to the modern economy, where today, mass social and economic activity is facilitated through platforms. I started Applico in 2009 when I was 20 years old, originally funding the company with nothing but my own credit cards. I co-authored the best-selling book, Modern Monopolies, which defines how the platform business model has come to dominate the 21st century economy.

As we currently stand, the largest tech companies in the world operate monopoly platforms that have swiftly come to control commerce, communication, finance, and media. Companies like Amazon and Google, through hyperdominant market positions, have become gatekeepers of the matchmaking algorithms that determine what you see, who you can talk to, and how you transact.

Platforms are fundamentally about connection but today's tech monopolies have issued a challenge to this core ethos of the platform model. It's up to us to hold big tech accountable.

Through Applico's advisory business, I work directly with traditional enterprises to help them partner with, invest in, and acquire platform businesses to level the playing field with big tech. In a similar vein, Winner Take All is about empowering any and all, to fight tech monopolies, educate themselves on the ever changing platform landscape, and make the modern economy accessible to all.
