Pt. Sheetal Prasad Mishra is a renowned tabla player belonging to the Banaras gharana. It's wonderful to hear that he was a student of the great maestro Pt. Kanthe Maharaj ji and learned tabla in the guru-shishya parampara (teacher-disciple tradition).

After leaving Banaras 57 years ago, Pt. Sheetal Prasad Mishra relocated to Lucknow. There, he began working as a tabla accompanist at Bhatkhande Music University, and he continued his association with the university for 42 years. Eventually, he retired from his position as the Head of the Department (HOD).

Currently, Pt. Sheetal Prasad Mishra teaches Tabla to a few students at his home. It's heartwarming to know that his grandson, Sohum Mishra, is also learning tabla under his guidance. This is a beautiful continuation of the guru-shishya tradition within their family.
