Here is my video to Imhotep. But, in particular, from The Mummy. A well known yet underused character. He is probably one of my favorites of the classic universal monsters. He is a powerful and ancient Egyptian priest who was cursed for his forbidden love. Imhotep is both intimidating and tragic, seeking to collect souls and to resurrect his lost love and unleash his wrath upon the world. His determination and super natural abilities make him a formidable antagonist. Which makes his character embody the allure and danger of ancient curses and the pursuit of immortality. I am gonna say that The Mummy is a really good movie. Especially the first one. Although I thought the 1932 movie was pretty bland tbh, the Brendan Fraser ones were definitely good. The first one was the best like I said, the second one was kinda good, the third one was decent but definitely terrible. Imhotep was well written in the first one and not only was his origin interesting but his story in the first movie that came out in 1999 was complex. Especially when he was resurrected as a mummy and made his way to collecting souls to regenerate as a human being again and reigning his wrath onto the city which makes him a very likable character. I feel like out of all the classic Universal monsters, he is perhaps the most detailed and complex one out there. Lets hope he will start getting much more recognition someday.
