This video explains about the tax on employee contribution towards EPF, TDS calculation on the interest, Taxable Account and Non Taxable Account in your EPF along with the connected provisions of EPF & MP Act 1952, Finance Act 2021, Income Tax Act 1961, Income Tax Rules 1962 & EPF Scheme 1952. The Guidelines from EPFO are released on 05.04.2021. This video explains the highlights of these guidelines in an understandable manner.
The Finance Act 2021 inserted 2 provisos to section 10(12) of Income Tax Act 1961 to exclude certain payments from the provident fund from the exclusion provided under this section and this will take effect in FY 21-22/AY 22-23 i.e. 1st April 2021. The rules on this are now notified by the Central Government on the 31st of August 2021 and rule 9D is inserted to IT Rules 1962 to give effect to the first proviso of section 10(12) which was inserted by FA 1921.
