By default they are calibrated to different white point color temperature when you view them straight on.The key is the rapidly changing color temperature of the XL display relative to the change in viewing angle. Sometimes the XL would even show noticeably different color temperature on different portions of the display at the same viewing angle. The regular 2 was thrown in to demonstrate the more consistent performance in terms of maintaining the same color temperature. Vivid color on or off makes no difference to the rapid shift in color temperature. It also messes with the night mode color. I was hoping this is just a sad byproduct of the Verizon store lighting but a couple other reviews also pointed out the exact same display problem in natural light.
