Pause in Decision-Making for Certain Residence Permits in January 2025
The processing of some residence permit applications will be temporarily paused from 1 to 8 January 2025. This applies to permits for employed persons and seasonal work lasting over six months, covering both initial and extended permits.

Submitting applications will not be affected—you can still apply as usual through the Enter Finland online service during this time.

If you need an extended permit, ensure you apply before your current one expires. Applications submitted via Enter Finland before the expiry date will be considered on time.

Longer Processing Times Expected
Due to the pause, decisions may take longer than usual.

The pause is necessary for transferring work permit services from TE Offices to the Finnish Immigration Service and updating the system. For additional details, refer to our earlier bulletin.

If your current permit expires while waiting for a decision on your extended permit, your right to work is likely to continue, provided you remain in the same job or field. Visit the "Right to Work" page for more information.
