The federal government has been urged to implement the renegotiated 2009 agreement with the academic staff union of universities.

This call was made by the chairman of ASUU, University of Uyo chapter, Prof. Opeyemi Olajide, while leading members of the union in a protest declared by its national body.

The demonstration, which involved professors and senior lecturers, took place across the town campus, the university annex, and the main campus, with protesters carrying placards bearing their demands and grievances.

Speaking with the ADBN team, Prof. Olajide explained that failure to fulfill the memorandum has left institutional facilities obsolete, dilapidated, and grossly inadequate for effective learning due to persistent underfunding.
