Roger Miller was born in Fort Worth, Texas, on January 2nd 1936. He was so desperate to write songs, he stole a guitar at age 17. To avoid jail, he enlisted in the army. He later explained, "My education was Korea, Clash of '52." He wrote hits for George Jones, Jim Reeves, Ray Price and others, before having any of his own.
