Odisha is a State of India located in the East region of the country. It is bordered by West Bengal to the East, Chhattisgarh to the West, Jharkhand to the North and Andhra Pradesh to the South. It also has coast with the Bay of Bengal to the East.

Bhubaneswar is the state capital and the largest city of Odisha. Other major cities are Cuttack, Puri, Nayagarh etc.

Odisha is the 8th largest state by area and 11th most populous state of India.

Odisha is known for its tribal culture and famous ancient Hindu temples. Puri is one of the four pilgrimage sites of Char Dham pilgrimage.

Politics of Odisha is dominated by the regional party Biju Janata Dal(BJD) who is ruling the state since 2000. The party holds a super-majority in the Odisha state assembly by having 112 out of 147 seats and also won majority of Odisha Lok Sabha seats 12 out of 21 in 2019 General Elections. Bharatiya Janata Party has also gained support in the state by winning 8 Lok Sabha seats out of 21. Congress used to be a popular party in the state but its support and popularity has decreased a lot.
Current Indian President Smt. Drupadi Murmu who is Second Woman and First Scheduled Tribe President of India also belongs from Mayurbhanj district of Odisha State.
