His diagnosis of Alzheimers disease later in life became a hurdle he struggled to overcome but instead learned to live with. He may have left his Heart in San Francisco, but he won all of our hearts– and now we look back on his incredible life and career. He was the last of the great saloon singers of the mid-20th century.
