Chris Nikkel lectures in visual and audio documentary at the National Film School, IADT, in Dún Laoghaire. Originally from Canada, he has lived in Ireland for the past twenty years. As a documentary maker, he has worked with RTÉ, the BBC, the Smithsonian Channel, and others. Chris is currently working on a practice-based PhD at LUCA School of Arts, in Belgium, exploring audio storytelling and complex histories. A 2025/26 Royal Irish Academy Commemorations Grant supported his travel to Peterborough and County Cork to attend both commemorations.
