On July 9, 2022, an unidentified subadult, with an uncanny resemblance, stepped beside Katmai brown bear 480 Otis, and began watching and mimicking his every move, in what appeared to be an attempt to learn his fishing techniques. For nearly 15 minutes, the two bears stood side by side, as cam viewers delighted in the sight of a miniature Otis fishing alongside him. Is the young subadult bear a descendant of 480 Otis? Without DNA testing, we'll never know, but the eyeball test checks out!
