This short, 3-minute video, "Champions of the Texas Coast," describes the immense responsibility placed on the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District (SWG), as it lays the foundations that will enable America's economic growth during the rest of this century. Responsible for the entire Texas Coast and part of Louisiana, Galveston District is focused on two essential missions - protecting our citizens and infrastructure from storm damage and building/maintaining the basic infrastructure that will propel America's economic growth throughout the rest of the twenty-first century and beyond. Currently, our area-of-responsibility produces over $2 trillion worth of national economic value and supports more than 5.5 million jobs. Supporting such a dynamic area is a daunting task, but it's a challenge that our professional team is eager to take on.
