I spent a lot of time daydreaming about how I would go about creating this cake, and my final thoughts were by using rice Krispy treats as the main hero of this design ;) I was thinking about buying styrofoam, which you can obviously do to save time and ensure you have a sleek, neat finish on your towers. But if you want the entire thing to be edible, I highly recommend rice Krispy treats. They set firm and sturdy, and until today are still completely aligned and fixed exactly where I left them (the cake has been sitting at room temperature for the last 30 odd hours, and they ain’t going nowhere!)

to make the rice Krispy treats, I mixed 500 grams of melted marshmallows with 250 grams of rice bubbles / rice puffs. They only take about 30 minutes to an hour to firm up completely in the fridge so by the time your cake is filled and stacked, they are ready to go on :D

 (Bakels is a bakery grade cake premix. Another great one is Allied Mills)

I hope you guys enjoyed the tutorial! It was such a pleasure creating this cake. I rarely mix fondant with buttercream, its more of a personal preference. if I make a fondant cake, I stick to fondant decorations, and vice versa.
