American Horror Story: Freak Show is the fourth season of the FX horror anthology television series American Horror Story. Previous seasons of American Horror Story: American Horror Story: Murder House, American Horror Story: Asylum, and American Horror Story: Coven have all featured the same actors including the Emmy Award Winner Jessica Lange, who has won Emmy's for her outstanding performance each season on AHS. This season is set in 1952 Jupiter, Florida, telling the story of one of the last remaining freak shows in America, and their struggle for survival. The series was created and produced by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, but before AHS, Ryan Murphy made headlines through the hit FOX high school musical dramedy, Glee, and FX's Nip/Tuck. Co-Creator and fellow producer, Brad Falchuk has worked with Murphy for years including on Glee & Nip/Tuck. American Horror Story is described as an anthology series, each season is conceived as a self-contained miniseries, following a desperate set of characters and settings, and a storyline with its own "beginning, middle, and end." Returning cast members from previous seasons are: Jessica Lange (Tootsie) as Elsa Mars, Evan Peters (X-Men: Days of Future Past) as Jimmy Darling, Denis O'Hare (Milk) as Stanley, Frances Conroy (Six Feet Under) as Gloria Mott, Sarah Paulson as Bette / Dot Tattler (Mud), Naomi Grossman (#Rip) as Pepper, Kathy Bates (Misery) as Ethel Darling, Emma Roberts (Scream 4) as Maggie Esmeralda, Angela Bassett (Malcolm X) as Desiree Dupree, and Michael Chiklis (The Shield) as Dell Toledo.
