Описание к видео Lakeside Marblehead, Ohio: Portrait of a City [4k]

Lakeside Chautauqua is a historic community founded in 1873 and located halfway between Cleveland and Toledo, Ohio, along Lake Erie. Full of quaint, unique shops, outdoor recreation activities and well-preserved historic buildings, Lakeside has been a popular summer getaway for over a century, attracting such luminaries as Eleanor Roosevelt, Amelia Earhart and Susan B. Anthony. The neighboring village of Marblehead is home to the oldest continually-operating lighthouse in the Great Lakes region. Benajah Wolcott, a Revolutionary War veteran, served as its first keeper in 1822. Just south of Marblehead Peninsula, Johnson’s Island offers spectacular views of Lake Erie, as well as a Civil War cemetery for Confederate prisoners of war. During the war, more than 10,000 Confederate officers were imprisoned on the island.
