Brand new Sydney Light Rail CAF Urbos 100 trams now in service!

In 2023 a 4 brand new light rail trams were ordered for L1 "Dulwich Hill" line to increase route’s capacity. Based on current CAF Urbos 3 trams, that are about 10 years old now, new 4 vehicles were ordered from CAF as well. New CAF Urbos 100 trams are an upgraded version of CAF Urbos 3 ones. They are featuring a better exterior and interior design, better reliability, improved electrical efficiency and performance, new traction motors, new LED screens and upgraded air conditioning systems, new door sounds, improved drivers cab, more ventilation windows (in case of air conditioning faulty), better destination boars, new announcements and many more features. Basically, the old and new versions of CAF Urbos trams are pretty identical from outside, but the biggest changes are inside (and mostly hidden). In this video you will see the №2128 tram, that had a small one loop test trip from Lilyfield to Dulwich Hill via Central with an empty return from Dulwich Hill to Lilyfield. CAF Urbos 100 trams started to operate in early December 2023 and this video was filmed in the first days of passenger service. Currently new trams running during non-peak hours as an unscheduled services, and during them, a lot of drivers getting training on it.
