The pH of the skin will be 5.5, that is slightly acidic. The neutral pH is 7.If it is less than 7 it acidic. If it is more than 7, it is alkaline. Skin basically having acidic pH. That is the acid mantle. There is a layer in the skin with a pH 5.5. So that will prevent all the organisms from entering the skin. So the soap, it should be slightly alkali. Anywhere between 7.5 till 9 is used. For example, if deodorant soaps are used, then it will be too much alkali, then pH will be more than 9. That will damage the acid mantle and henceforth it will cause the skin to damage. So depending on the type of skin whether it is oily, dry or combination, you should select the pH of the soap. It should be balanced, that is slightly alkaline pH of the soap is used for good skin.
