Weatherford's wins, Chevron's move, and the Astros' investments

Описание к видео Weatherford's wins, Chevron's move, and the Astros' investments

This week I wrote about Weatherford’s A+ performance, Chevron’s move to Houston, and the Astros’ investments into Houston’s growth.

I summarize these posts in the video below.

The short version –

• Weatherford’s margins and returns on capital are expanding while their competitors’ are plateauing

• Chevron’s move to Houston is further evidence of the Gulf Coast’s growing prominence in our energy future, even beyond oil and gas

• The General Counsel of the Houston Astros spoke to the Petroleum Club of Houston about all the aggressive investments the team is making in this city

Each weekend I send out a free weekly newsletter with links to, and summaries of, all the research I post online each week.

I also include an energy-related anecdote, insight, or observation that I don’t share anywhere else. That way, even if you’ve seen everything I’ve posted publicly, you’ll still have something new to read in the newsletter.

If you haven’t signed up to receive it, you can do so right here:

Weatherford’s stock is booming, while Baker Hughes, Halliburton, and SLB are all down

  / jeffkrimmel_energy-oilandgas-oilfieldservi...

Over the past year, Weatherford’s stock is up over 20%.

Baker Hughes’ is down 3%. Halliburton’s and SLB’s are each down over 20%.

Why?

Because Weatherford continues to expand its margins and returns on capital, while its biggest peers are plateauing.

I cover the details in this post.

Chevron is moving its HQ to Houston

https://foundationsofenergy.substack....

Last week Chevron announced it was moving its headquarters from San Ramon, California, to Houston, Texas.

If you’ve followed my work, you know how bullish I am on Houston specifically, and the Gulf Coast generally.

In this post at Foundations of Energy (FOE), I wrote about the importance of Chevron’s announcement.

I also cataloged some of the strengths we find along the Gulf Coast that are increasingly attracting new people and capital.

(I also changed the subscription terms for FOE. It used to be $50 per month or $500 per year with two posts per week. It’s now $25 per month or $250 per year with one post per week.)

Astros GC speaks about Houston-area investments to the Petroleum Club

  / jeffkrimmel_i-attended-a-great-luncheon-at...

I attended an awesome luncheon at the Petroleum Club of Houston on Thursday.

The speaker was Giles Kibbe, the General Counsel of the Houston Astros.

Giles spoke about the Astros’ new real estate developments, along with the team's on the Houston Open golf tournament and their plethora of charitable activities.

It’s an exciting time to be in Houston, as we saw with Chevron’s announcement and the commitments we’re seeing from the Astros.
