Описание к видео Top problem solving games for team building

Over the next few minutes, I’ll be sharing five of our favourite problem-solving games to help your team build their trouble-shooting abilities, and have a few laughs along the way.

0:00 Intro
0:35 Build A Shelter
1:31 Spaghetti Tower
2:00 Shrinking Circle
2:42 Survival Plans
3:35 Cardboard Boat Race

Our first activity is called Build A Shelter.
How would you survive if you were stranded in an isolated place with a blizzard on the way? Use this activity to find out!
To start, gather a range of supplies, such as empty cardboard boxes, tape, and office chairs, and then find a large, open space. Then, choose a team leader. This person must instruct the group as they work to create a shelter that will protect them from the oncoming storm. But here’s the twist: Everyone except the team leader is blindfolded.
The leader must use only their words to guide everyone in putting together the shelter. When the team is confident that the shelter is up for the test, turn on a fan and see if the structure can withstand the wind. This game is guaranteed to have a few funny moments and is a great test of communication and group listening abilities.

Next up, we have Spaghetti Tower.
This is a classic problem-solving game where team members try to build a tower using only uncooked spaghetti and marshmallows. To play, divide your team into groups of three to five and give each group a box of spaghetti and a bag of tiny marshmallows.
Then start a 20-minute timer and let everyone get creative! When the time is up, the group with the tallest, free-standing tower wins!

Our third game is called Shrinking Circle, and it really challenges your team’s ability to adapt!
To play, use a rope to create a large circle that your whole team can fit inside.
Every few minutes, start to make the circle smaller. The challenge is for everyone to stay inside the circle. As the area continues to shrink, this will require lots of collaboration and more and more innovation to accomplish.
It’s important to note that with this game, team members are likely to touch each other as the circle gets smaller. While it can be a really fun activity, if this level of closeness has the potential to make anyone uncomfortable, then we recommend choosing something different.

Our fourth game is called Survival Plans.
Here’s how it works.
Have everyone pair off or get into small groups, and imagine they are stranded on a desert island. They must then decide on the correct order to perform the following life-saving steps: find water, find food, set up shelter, explore the island, signal for help, create weapons for self-defense, build a raft, start a fire, select a group leader, and find other survivors.
Here’s the catch: Everyone in the group must agree on the order of events in order to lock in their final answer. This typically involves quite a bit of discussion and compromise—all excellent aspects of problem-solving.
At the end of the activity, have each group share their decision and see how they compare!

And finally, I have our last problem-solving activity, Cardboard Boat Race.
This is a great one if your office is located close to a body of water.
To get started, have participants pair off and create a small boat using cardboard and other office supplies. Then, have everyone take their boats down to the water and race them! You can give points for the fastest boat, best decorated, most creative, or whatever other categories your team comes up with!

And that's it for today’s round-up of problem-solving games!
