SENS Research Foundation’s CEO Mike Kope opened the 2016 Rejuvenation Biotechnology Conference with a considered assessment of the field’s progress over the last decade – particularly highlighting the steady shift from questions over the very plausibility of the damage-repair approach to preventing age-related disease, to the serious evaluation of how such therapies can be most rapidly brought to the clinic. Mike draws special attention to the million-to-one ratio between the funding available to organisations such as SRF or the Buck Institute and the expected costs of “business as usual” treatment for the diseases of aging, before explaining SRF’s new three-part strategy to break through current funding and engagement barriers.
