A thankful video by HIR for Balkrishna Vithaldas Doshi a well known personality in the world of Architecture. India and Indian Architects are thankful for his contribution to the world of construction. He died today on 24 January 2023 at the age of 95 in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. But we will always feel his presence in the buildings he designed.
He was the first Indian architect in many initiatives and awards to receive like;
He became the first Indian architect to receive the Pritzker Architecture Prize, which is considered one of the most prestigious prizes in architecture. He was also awarded with India's one of the highest prestigious awards the Padma Shri and the Padma Bhushan.He was awarded the Royal Gold Medal by Royal Institute of British Architects and many more.
He has been the first founder Director of the School of Architecture, the School of Planning, founder Dean of the Centre for Environmental Planning and Technology and first founder Director of the Kanoria Centre for Arts,
