Clean water access headache for Africa

Описание к видео Clean water access headache for Africa

Access to clean water is a huge challenge across the African continent. Over 300 million people do not have access to clean drinking water and over 700 million live without access to good sanitation.

Investments in water infrastructure and support services falls short of what is needed to meet the continent’s economic and social needs. There is a shortfall of $11bn-$19bn a year in water investments on the continent, hampering the achievement of SDG 6. At least $30bn a year is required.

The High-Level Panel on Water Investments for Africa composed of former and current Heads of State, including South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, has announced its commitment to finding actionable pathways to mobilize the required $30bn a year.

Global Water Partnership Africa Executive Secretary, Alex Simalabwi weighs in.
