Welcome to my Budapest travel vlog! Join me as I explore the heart of Hungary's capital, revealing the city’s rich history, stunning architecture, and hidden gems. In this video, I’ll take you through some of Budapest’s most iconic landmarks, including Fisherman's Bastion, Matthias Church, Buda Castle, and the world-renowned New York Café. Don’t miss the chance to experience these must-see spots in one of Europe’s most enchanting cities!

1. Fisherman's Bastion:
Step into a fairytale at Fisherman's Bastion (Halászbástya), perched on the Buda side of the city.
Built between 1895 and 1902, this neo-Gothic, neo-Romanesque terrace offers panoramic views of the Danube River, the Chain Bridge, and the Parliament building.
The name originates from the guild of fishermen who once defended this part of the city.

Highlights: The seven towers representing the seven Magyar tribes, breathtaking panoramic views of the Danube and Pest side, and the statue of St. Stephen.

Entry Fee: Free.

2. Matthias Church:
Just a stone’s throw from Fisherman’s Bastion is the breathtaking Matthias Church (Mátyás-templom), a masterpiece of Gothic architecture dating back over 700 years.
Known for its colorful, Zsolnay-tiled roof and richly decorated interiors, this church has been the site of several coronations and royal weddings.

Highlights: The stunning stained glass windows, the ornate pulpit, and the Ecclesiastical Art Museum housed within the church’s crypt.

Entry Fee: Approximately HUF 1800 for adults.

3. Buda Castle:
Next, we dive into history at Buda Castle (Budavári Palota), a UNESCO World Heritage site.
This grand palace, once home to Hungarian kings, now houses the Hungarian National Gallery and Budapest History Museum.
Explore the majestic courtyards and learn about the castle’s role in Hungary’s turbulent past.

Highlights: The grand courtyards, the National Gallery’s collection of Hungarian art, and the spectacular view from the castle’s terraces.

Entry Fee: Free for normal visit, Varies by exhibit; National Gallery access starts at HUF 2,400.

4. New York Café:
Finally, I’ll take you to the legendary New York Café (New York Kávéház), often dubbed “the most beautiful café in the world.”
This opulent café, adorned with marble, velvet, and stunning frescoes, has been a gathering place for writers, poets, and artists since the 19th century.

Highlights: The lavish Baroque-style interiors, the stunning frescoes on the ceiling, and the world-class coffee and pastries.

Entry Fee: No entrance fee, but dining here is a must! (Pro tip: A coffee here is around HUF 2,000+).
