"Maracatu - Ritmos Sagrados" é um documentário de 2005 dirigido por
Eugenia Maakaroun e editado por Cristiane Nery
que mostra a realidade dos maracatus de Pernambuco, como
vivem os seus mestres, suas rainhas, seu mundo, suas
casas, suas vidas...
A força vital de ancestrais do batuque afrobrasileiro
permanece nos morros de Recife, Olinda e
Nazaré da Mata. O humano se transfigura no sagrado,
através do ritmo, da dança e das cores, que remetem à
imagem dessa alma peregrina presente na cultura do
cotidiano, da rua, da cidade e da história do povo
brasileiro...

world, their faces, their lives…
The ancestral souls of the afro-brazilian percussion
are on the hills of Recife, Olinda and Nazaré da
Mata. The human transforms on sacred, through the
rhythm, the dance and the colors. All of that reflect
on image of the peregrine soul. The culture is insert
on the day by day, on the streets, in the cities and
at the history of the Brazilian people…
