Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Women’s Commission has issued directions to register a case against Poonjar MLA P C George for making insulting remarks against the attacked actress. While addressing a press conference, PC George had asked that how the actress, who was said to have faced harassment in Kochi last February, returned to work the next day. He had also said that there is no evidence to prove the attack on the actress and the police version cannot be believed. The remarks generated widespread criticism. In this scenario, the State Women’s Commission had sought legal advice on the issue. The legal advice given to the Commission was that a case should be registered against PC George as his remarks are an insult to womanhood and it brings down the dignity and honour of women. Accordingly, the State Women’s Commission Chairperson MC Josephine has issued directions to register a case against PC George. The Women’s Commission will submit a letter to the Speaker asking permission to record PC George’s statement.
