It was all about legacy, culture, and Black excellence at the 2024 HBCU Honors! BlackChurchTok hit the blue carpet to ask industry leaders like Yandy Smith & Mendeecees Harris Jr., Erica & Krista Campbell, Dr. Lonnie Johnson, and more, why the saints should support Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).

The U.S. Department of Education currently recognizes 107 colleges as HBCUs. HBCUs were established before the Civil Rights Act of 1967 to provide Black people with opportunities for higher learning that were otherwise unavailable due to segregation.

These days, HBCUs are still very necessary. A large percentage of Black professionals including doctors, engineers, lawyers, and judges graduate from HBCUs. These institutions are contribute to our rich history and foster a sense of community.
