Wu Jia Po is an excerpt from Peking opera Hong Zong Lie Ma(The Red-Maned Horse)/Lady Precious Stream

The story is set in the Tang Dynasty Wang BaoChuan (San Jie) is the third daughter of the Wang family and shocks her parents and sisters by falling in love with, and ultimately marrying, the gardener Xue PingGui, who is of humble origin. Wang was disowned by his father and lived in a broken-down house with Xue. In this take of love treachery, fidelity and reconciliation, Wang BaoChuan shows her devotion to the noble Xue who is elevated to a senior position in the army fighting the rebel forces from XiLiang Kingdom, which opposed to the Tang Dynasty.

In the latter part of the story Xue is betrayed by one of Wang's brother-in-law, captured by the enemy forces and, to save his own life, is forced to marry the rebel princess, later became the King of XiLiang Kingdom. Xue is placed in a terrible dilemma but his love for Wang BaoChuan remains strong, and he attempts to find a way out of his impasse, while his loyal wife remains constant and hopes for his return.

Wu Jia Po happened when Xue returned to the Tang Dynasty after received a letter wrote using Wang's blood on one of her robe delivered by a geese. In order to test her chastity to him, Xue in disguise tried to seduce her at first, but got scolded by Wang. Xue then chased her to their broken-down house to tell her what had happened to him in the past 18 years.

At the end of the story, with the blessing from XiLiang princess, Xue brought Wang back to the palace as his wife and Queen.
