While some brands are producing chips with 97% potato content using just four simple ingredients, others are selling heavily engineered products with yeast extract for artificial savory flavor, raising agents to create fake crispiness, and color extracts to paint on that "homemade" look. The gap between the best and worst products is staggering — and the worst offenders often come from the biggest, most trusted names.
