Описание к видео The King of Fighters '97 playthrough (Neo Geo, 1CC)

Playthrough with the special team... that's apparently their actual team name, according to the SNK wiki! KoF '97 is the final part of the Orochi storyline, and is basically what the previous game should have been had SNK not had to rush it out. All of the returning characters have new moves, and command normals are back in.

The biggest change is that there are two gameplay systems you can select from: advanced and extra. Advanced lets you run, lets you roll by pressing A and B together and has a super gauge where doing special moves will fill it up. You can fill it up to three times, and activate max mode by pressing the A, B and C buttons together. Doing so will make you stronger for a limited time, and any super moves you do will be the more powerful versions.

Extra mode makes things similar to KoF '95. Pressing the A and B buttons together lets you dodge attacks, you can hop forwards or backwards and you can charge up the gauge by holding down the A, B and C buttons. When low on health you can do desperation moves whenever you want. The gauge charges up really quickly in this game, making it pretty good if you want to have a super ready fast. Choosing this mode alters your character's default colors, which I'm not a fan of.

This game has the most amount of bosses to face. Orochi Iori is up first, he wouldn’t be too bad if it wasn’t for how fast he is. You then have to face powered up versions of the new face team. Chris constantly zips around the screen and usually blocks everything, but if you use Billy, just get to the corner of the screen then start using jumping strong punch. Chris tends to get hit by this so you should be able to win easily. Shermie’s just kind of whatever but Yashiro is a big time cheater, he likes to roll through any attack you make and get you with a command grab or super. But this is where Mary comes in, as he tends to get hit by her m. spider throw a lot.

The final boss is Orochi. Orochi has a lot of overpowered moves, especially his supers. But unlike Goenitz, he doesn't get infinite supers, and honestly, he's the easiest KoF boss thus far. As long as you take your time he's not actually that difficult to beat, but sometimes he can mess you up, it can just be a bit random to how aggressive he's going to be. He wasn't too bad in this playthrough.

One notable thing about this game is the music. Some characters, like Athena and Kyo, have music tracks play when they come on. But most of the characters and teams don't, you just get ambient noise instead. I don't know if SNK didn't have time to get the music done or were just experimenting, but things return to normal in the next game.

Three different Japanese gaming magazines - Weekly Famitsu, Gamest and Neo Geo Freak -held polls where readers could pick which characters they'd like to see in the game. The winners were Yamazaki, Mary and Billy, forming the special team. Apparently Mary only just won in the Gamest poll, and nearly lost to Duck King. Duck would eventually appear in a KoF game, in 2005's KoF XI.

One last note -the blood in this game is censored by default. There is a way to uncensor it via the bios cheats, but I thought it was funnier to leave it as it is, purely because of the scene with Iori -it looks like he makes the worst sneeze ever.
