Thank you for watching! I will be posting more content soon!

Once a year, Colorado Ethiopians come together to celebrate our vibrant culture at the Taste of Ethiopia Festival. This year's event took place at Parkfield Lake Park on August 5th, marking the return of the 9th annual festival after a hiatus due to COVID-19. This celebration is a heartfelt tribute to Colorado's second-largest immigrant population, showcasing the richness of Ethiopian culture. About 10,000 people join us throughout the day of the festival.

The festival offers a unique experience where attendees can indulge in authentic Ethiopian cuisine, enjoy traditional music, and explore arts and crafts. Our performance this year featured a talented group of 14 individuals, making it a memorable and special occasion. If you missed it this time, we hope to see you there next year!

I was really proud to be part of the festival and really proud of our performance. EYDC started when Taste of Ethiopia with Helen as one of the co-founders of Taste of Ethiopia. Ethiopia Youth Dancers of Colorado (EYDC), is a traditional Ethiopian cultural dance group based at St. Mary Ethiopian Orthodox Church. I had the honor of serving as the lead coach for our performance at the Taste of Ethiopia Festival.

There were some mistakes here and there, but our goal was to show our culture and the purpose of the group was to learn about our cultural dances as most of us were born in America.

This year it was my goal to show the diversity of Ethiopia. Usually, we would perform about 6 different types of cultural dances. I made it my goal to learn other cultural dances that as popular in Ethiopia as a whole and made sure to showcase it! We had about 14 different cultural dances. It turned out really beautiful with the help of many people in my group and friends who taught us these cultural dances.

Showed dances from the Afar people, Wolayta people, Tigray people, Oromo people, Amhara people, and Gurage people. With showing the many dances from the Amhara, Oromo, and Tigray. Hope you learned some new dances by watching the video.

A bit about me: I was born and raised in Aurora, Colorado. My passion for Ethiopian dance led me to join EYDC in 2018. Now, I've been given the opportunity to create my own group called FOR THE CULTURE! My dream is to share the beauty of Ethiopian culture through dance, even though I wasn't born in Ethiopia. I am deeply grateful for all the love and support I've received. Please like, share, and subscribe to my YouTube channel. I plan to post more content regularly, and I'm excited to share more FOR THE CULTURE performances soon!

Thank you all for your love and support. LOVE YOU GUYS! :)
