DUBAI - An Abu Dhabi-based filmmaker has produced a time-lapse movie capturing everyday scenes of some of the UAE capital's iconic landmarks, in what he has described as a 'labour of love'.

The video, 'Abu Dhabi 2011', shot by the art director and filmmaker at Timesand Studios, Beno Saradzic, is made up of 21,000 images, from more than a dozen vantage points across the capital, mostly from high buildings, over a period of eight weeks.

He created the piece as a tribute to Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founder and late president of the UAE.

The four minute film features alternative views of the luxurious Emirates Palace Hotel, the vast grand mosque, construction sites and even simple street scenes which are transformed into staggering light shows.

'We are hard-wired to see the world in a certain way, but change that point of view slightly, and you will be stunned', said Saradzic.

Time-lapse filming is a technique where multiple photographs of a scene are taken at regular intervals.

Once captured, the images are then edited together to give an animated feel to an everyday scene, unlike any conventional movie.
