Welcome to another edition of the Asphalt Kingdom Roundtable. Today we’re going to talk about generating leads and sales presentations. Let’s start with an important question on this topic.

What is the best way to counter a client’s disinterest in sealcoating their asphalt? The answer is easy. All you have to do is remind your clients that their pavement is costing them money now regardless of whether they choose to have their asphalt maintained or not. Forgoing maintenance or repair will only shorten the asphalt lifespan by 15 years, and it is going to be more costly in the long run. To drive your point home, you can tell your customer that sealcoating protects it from the sun, snow, ice, and more.

If your customer had a bad experience with another asphalt maintenance company, then it’s time to educate them. Give additional value, such as offering a warranty and reassuring your customers about the quality of your work.

What about working with HOAs and apartment complexes? How do you get to the decision-makers directly? First, find out the contact information of the decision-maker, which is most likely the property owner or property management company. You can try LinkedIn to find their contact information or hire a freelancer to scrape the data. Once you find their contact information, analyze your data and create a customized proposal based on their persona.

Remember that you’re not just providing asphalt maintenance services once for a customer. You want to build a lifelong or long-term relationship with the customer. To do that, you can offer a 10-year budget plan to your customer. This not only allows you to get a commitment, but also allows your customer to set aside some money for pavement asset management.

When pitching to clients and writing proposals, make sure to use power words, such as pavement asset management
Raise your prices to survive 2022
Make sure your proposals are time sensitive and have expiry dates
