RNBO Pisound Ambient Jam

Описание к видео RNBO Pisound Ambient Jam

The inaugural Arts for the Blues performance, entitled Together Un/Tethered, took place at Liverpool Lighthouse this past weekend. As part of the #immersiveperformance, I contributed #generative visuals and an #ambient #soundscape, which was #madewithRNBO and performed using a #RaspberryPi, ‪@blokas‬ #Pisound, and ‪@djtechtools‬ #MidiFighterTwister.

The foundation of the soundscape, which accompanied both live cello and spoken word, was a #stochastic #granularsynthesis engine utilising pre-recorded harmonica samples performed by an Arts for the Blues workshop participant, along with a simple square wave bass synthesiser incorporating pulse width modulation, the notes for which were sequenced using a second order #Markovchain implemented using #codebox inside the #RNBO patcher.

The #fieldrecordings included in the soundscape are taken from an extensive library I have built up whilst #walkingtheWainwrights, capturing a minimum of one minute of audio for every fell (currently at 161/214 as of 05/06/23). The #birdsong was recorded whilst walking #CragFell and #Grike on 29/04/23 and the stream was recorded whilst walking #WhitbarrowScar (not a Wainwright) on 28/11/21.

Arts for the Blues is a research project funded by ‪@artscouncilofengland‬. A series of Together Un/Tethered performances is scheduled to take place throughout the summer at ‪@EdgeHillUniversity‬ on 20-21/06/23, ‪@salforduni‬ on 03/07/23, ‪@UniversityofDerby‬ on 18/07/23, and again at Liverpool Lighthouse on 09/09/23.
