There are creative ways to practice hand placement, movement, and the ability to understand the feel of holding multiple things at once.

When you’re anchoring the vein, retracting the needle and placing the catheter, you’ll also need to release the tourniquet, and apply some gentle pressure above the now-inserted peripheral catheter to limit blood flow until you can attach the primed extension tubing.
