Located adjacent to the Grand Palace and built between 1918-1927 by empress Zewditu to memorize her father Menilik ll on the 14th anniversary of his death; Beata Lemariam church houses numerous manuscripts, robes of Menilik and Zewditu, icons, and other ecclesiastic and secular objects of great historical and spiritual significance.

The construction was made using medieval age construction technology. There are symbols of M (representing Menilik) on the walls. Beyond that, the church's top dome is crowned with Meniliks crown while other churches' domes are crowned with crosses. The mausoleum keeps the remains of Emperor Menelik II and Iyasu V and Empress Zewditu and Taytu.
