Non-Bengali students, who have been living in West Bengal for years and also those who have recently moved here to pursue their academic dreams, have been facing not just a language barrier, but also loss of opportunities merely because they are yet to be comfortable with the Bengali language. While many non-Bengali students say they are not treated fairly, for others even though they have been living in Kolkata for generations, they see many disparities arising for them severely affecting their lives.
