The Making of Buchser Tigerli 8487

Описание к видео The Making of Buchser Tigerli 8487

My scratch-built model of Das Buchser Tigerli.

Music in the video:
Le vieux chalet (Là-haut sur la montagne)
Arrangement inspired by that of Joseph Bovet. Performed, on banjo, by me.

An abridged translation of the information plaque next to the preserved locomotive:

"This type E 3/3 three-axle shunting locomotive was built in 1909 by the Swiss Locomotive and Machine Works Winterthur (SLM) for shunting operations in Buchs station.

"The wet steam locomotive with a two-cylinder engine was a very strong and powerful locomotive and was therefore given the additional designation 'Little Tiger.'

"From 1909 to 1964, the locomotive shunted many freight cars over the hump, from which they rolled onto the various tracks, where they were put together for eastbound traffic or Switzerland. At the beginning of the 1960s, the first diesel locomotives were used for shunting and the 'Little Tiger' made its way to the Rorschach locomotive depot.

"It is thanks to the Buchs Tourist Office…that this [engine] commemorates the once heavily used border station.

"A cultural asset like the old steam locomotive, a landmark of Buchs, must be cared for."
